Dorchester Academy is pleased to announce the election of two new school board members. The parents of our school have elected Mrs. Maggi M. Bryant and Mr. Beau Kennedy to serve on our school board beginning with the 2018-2019 school year.
Mrs. Bryant is a member of the Dorchester Academy Class of 1999. She earned a degree in Accounting from the College of Charleston and is presently the financial sales manager and vice president of First Citizens Bank in St. George. She and her husband Edward have two daughters, Ivy (a rising 1st grader) and Isabelle (a rising K3 student). Maggi has been actively engaged in our school: she has served as chair of the past two Cow Drop fundraisers, and she is the leader of our 4H club. As your board member, Maggi will work to promote academics, multiple and varied opportunities for all students, and a focus on character building, Christian activities and lessons.
Mr. Kennedy is a Summerville High School graduate who is the owner and operator of his own business, Absolute Home Services. He has been affiliated in various capacities with Dorchester Acdemy for the past 18 years. He and his wife Tanya enjoy their interactions with the DA family. Their sons Hunter and Chase are DA graduates, and their daughter Miley is a rising 7th grader. Mr. Kennedy has served as Booster Club president for 8 years and is the “Voice of the Raiders” at sporting events and fundraisers. As your board member, Mr. Kennedy plans to insure that DA remains an affordable educational experience for our families and that it will grow into the best education option in upper Dorchester County. He firmly believes that we can attract new families moving into our area by maintaining the values that have made our school successful for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Bryant and Mr. Kennedy will become active board members for the 2018-2019 school year. They replace Mrs. Paige T. Jordan and Mr. J.T. Whetsell. Dorchester Academy wishes to give a warm WELCOME to our new board members and a heartfelt THANK YOU to the ones whose terms have ended.
