Head of School, Mrs. Lynne’ Reeves, announces two more GREAT teacher hires for the 2019-2020 school year!
Mrs. Jennifer Durr Berry will be teaching a section of second grade. Mrs. Jennifer is a 2001 graduate of Dorchester Academy, a 2004 graduate of the University of South Carolina (BA in Early Childhood Ed), and a 2009 graduate of NOVA Southeastern University (Master’s in Teaching & Learning). She has been teaching for 14 years. She says,” I am excited to be back in the DA halls…this time as a TEACHER!” Mrs. Jennifer’s husband Travis is a DA alum, and their son Keeton will be in 2nd grade.
Mrs. Gay McLeod will be teaching high school English. A native of Hampton, SC, and graduate of Patrick Henry Academy, Mrs. McLeod was inspired to be a teacher by her own English teacher. She earned a BA in English and an MA in English Education from Furman University. She has been teaching for the past 30 years in public, private, and homeschool settings. Mrs. McLeod and her husband George have 3 sons. They enjoy spending time at Edisto Beach in the summer and at Death Valley (Clemson, SC) in the fall. She is excited to “help DA students becomee discerning readers and effective communicators for life.”
