The school board members and I have decided to close school and After Care for Wed. and Thurs., Sept. 4th and 5th, due to potential dangers posed by Hurricane Dorian. All activities, practices, and athletic competitions scheduled for these days are also cancelled. Depending upon the damage our area suffers as a result of Dorian, we may or may not hold school on Friday. We will let you know as soon as possible.
All students are being sent home with packets of work to do over the break so that we do not need to use our scheduled holidays (Campmeeting, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, etc.) to make up the days we are missing. Teachers are sending work that will enable students to practice what they have been learning. They will not be given new skills to learn on their own; they will be practicing what they have already learned in class or know how to do on their own. The work is designed to last through Friday just in case we are unable to return to school by then.
The Beta Club Induction Ceremony and Chapel planned for the 4th has been rescheduled for Wednesday the 11th.
AD Sheryle Young reports that the volleyball games scheduled for Thursday against Andrew Jackson Academy have been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25, at AJA. The Junior High football game scheduled against Hilton Head Prep will be rescheduled, but the date and time will be announced later. No decision has been made on Friday night’s game against Pee Dee Academy. We will share these details when we decide on them.
