April 9, 2012

            The Booster Club met on April 9, 2012.  Old business and new business items were discussed.

  • Apparel Sale: this will be postponed until the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year
  • Alumni/Family Fun Day: the date for this fun event is April 28-there will be softball games and other activities-the concession stand will be open-see Robin Beane, Dawn Mizzell, or Chris Mizzell for more information
  • Softball/Baseball Press box: plans are being drawn for the new softball/baseball concession stand/press box-Beau showed those present the location and other details-the Board has agreed to pledge money for this construction if funds are necessary to complete the building-construction will begin this summer
  • Steak Supper: the steak supper made a profit of $4,463.86 for the Booster Club
  • Bus Search: Penny has asked for volunteers to form a bus search committee-she has also asked others to give their input on the new bus situation
  • Irrigation for softball field: June has written the check to the school to cover our $800 pledge amount
  • Athletic Banquet: the Winter/Spring Banquet will be held on May 22, 2012- basketball, softball, and baseball teams will be honored at this time

Items discussed:

  • Steak Supper- the Supper was a great success- PTO did very well on their baskets-total profit will be given at a later date
  • Baseball Fence-the fence is up and looks great-Thanks to Bryan, Chris, and Gary for their hard work
  • Fancloth Apparel Sales- the price is $15.00 per item with no commitment from the school-these items are baseball-related-Beau will ask Karen about selling for the Booster Club
  • Press box for Baseball/Softball-plans are being made for a new press box for baseball and softball-the press box would include restrooms, storage, and a small concession stand- Beau is working on three different designs for the press box and will provide more information at the next meeting
  • Sound System- quotes are being received for the new sound system- the funds for this will come from the Cameron Berry Memorial Fund
  • Motions and votes were made to build the new softball/baseball press box
  • Motions and votes were made to go forth with sound system for all three fields
  • Upcoming Dates to remember:
    • Grits Festival:  April 13-15
    • Alumni Game/Family Activity Day:  April 28
    • Upper Dorchester County Relay for Life:  April 27
